TE ROTI DISTRICT NEWS

The Te Roti Social Club held an evening recently. Mrs. Sait played music and Monta Carlos were won by Mr. M. Condon and partner and Miss Hurley and Mr. Dombroski. Extras were played by Miss Shearer, Normanby. Mr. V. Bloor was master of ceremonies. An afternoon at bvidge by Te Roti women was enjoved at Mrs. Bloor's residence. Money tdwards differenl appeals for war funds has been raised through local bridge parties. To honour Miss Mary Cockerton on the eve of her marriage. Te Roti women held an afternoon at Mrs. Bloor's residence. The guest of honour wore a tobacco shaded floral frock. Items were contributed by Miss Valmai Barkla (songs), Misscs Charrnian and Dell Bnrrow, and community singing vva.s enjoyed. Competitions were won bv Mrs. J. S. Barrow, Mrs. Metcalfe and Mrs. Harvey. During the afternoon Mrs. Bloor presented Miss Cockerton with a crystal salad bowl and vase. Mrs. Bloor also presented the guest with a shoulder spray and Mrs. Fowler presented Mrs. Cockerton with a spray. Kitchen Evening. Te Roti residents tendered Miss Jean McAsey a kitchen evening in honour of her approaching marriage. Miss McAsey wore a tobacco brown frock and was presented with a shnulder spray by j Mrs. C. Smith. Robinson spent a few days with her sister, Mrs. Stokes. Mrs. Cleaver snr. is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. Bloor. Mrs. Joseph Kelly visited her sister, Mrs. Bradley, Waverley, recently. Miss Doris Hamniond. who was the guest of Mrs. G. Fowler, has returned to Mangatoki.
