FIRST BRITISH AWARD
Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 24. The Distinguished Service Medal has been awarded to Sergeant Jozef Frantisek, of the Polish squadron of the Royal Air Force. He is the first Pole to win a British fiying award. He destroyed five planes in a week. Fiying Officer Count Manfred Czernin, who was born at Berlin, was awarded the Distinguished Fiying Cross. He destroyed nine planes, three in one action.
