Mokau Punt Found.
The Mokau Harbour Board's punt, which broke away from its moorings about three weeks ago, has been discovered wrecked on Mussel Reef, at the entrance to the harbour. Earlier it was feared that it might be a danger to navigation. Home Guard Conunittees. Following advice that the Taranaki Reserve Corps district will be the same as the Taranaki military area, steps are being taken to form local Home Guard committees in the province. A meeting of local authority representatives will be held at Stratford on Monday to define the localities and then the local authorities in each of these districts will set up the committees. A full statement on the detailed organisation of the Home Guard is expected shortly. Black-out Material. A link with the people of England. who each night draw curtains across their windows to step stray gleams. of light flltering out into the night, was enclosed in a letter from Stockport, Lancashire, received by Mrs. H. Ibbotson, Avenue Road, New Plymouth, in the form of a piece of "A.R.P. material" used for making the curtains. The material is blaclc and closely woven with a texture like that of flannel. The writer a Stockport woman, regrets her inability to send a ration card, as the people have been asked to hand them in, together with paper, cardboard and metal of all kinds. "We have plenty of good food — nothing to waste but sufficient for our needs, and everyone over here is confident and cheerful," concludes the writer. Farmers in the Awakino and Mokau districts are invited to see a talkie picture on animal disease to be shown in the Awakino Hall to-morrow afternoon.*
