NEW PLYMOUTH
Miss Noeline Knight, who will take up her duties as matron of the New Plymouth hospital on October 1, will arrive at New Plymouth to-day from Christchurch. Miss Knight will spend a few days as the guest of Mrs. D. D. Bailey before going into residence at the hospital. Mrs. E. Scott returned yesterday to St. Helier's, Auckland, after spending a holiday at New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. W. T. Guild. Mrs. George Hannan will leave to-day to spend a holiday at Wyndham. Mrs. Geoffrey Mathieson left yester- ; day to return to Dunedin after a short visit to New Plymouth on her way south from Auckland. ^ Miss E. Shaw and Miss B. Hodder are spending a holiday at Napier. Mrs. J. D. Robertson has returned to New Plymouth from a short visit to Eltham. Mesdames T. Petty and B. Aston were the hostesses for the patriotic bridge circle, which met in the Victoria League rooms on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. R. E. Thomas won the competition. Mrs. R. J. Grant left yesterday morning for Auckland and will leave later by flying-boat to spend a holiday in Australia.
