MATIERE DANCE HELD

At the Matiere hall a dance was held by the committee in aid of funds for the local school. Visitors were present from Taumarunui, Ongarue, Tuhua, Nihoniho, Otangiwai and Ohura. An extra was played by Mr, G. A. Eng. Mr. G. A. Eng and Mr. J. Casey were masters of ceremonies. Novelty dances were won by Miss Davidson and Mr. I. Reaton and Miss E. Flavell and partner. A lucky hat was worn by Miss Coe. .Winners of competitions were: Supper cloth, given by Mrs. G. A. Eng, Mr. Spence, New rlymouth; cake, given by Mr, K. McAllum, Mr. C. Stewart; box of chocolates. Mr. J. Manning, Nihoniho. Mr. G. A. Eng, chairman of the school committee, thanked those who had helped to make the evening a success. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. J, Gover have returned from a week-end visit to Eltham. Mr. and Mrs. C. Manning, Nihoniho, have returned from Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. G. McKibbin, Manunui, were guests of Mr. R. Dench at the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. J. Hill have returned from Mangaweka. Mr. and Mrs. V. Roe, Woodville, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. K«:lly. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Eng were visitors to Ongarue on Saturday. Miss K. Nelson, Wellington, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Nelson. Tuhua. Mr. J. Manning, Nihoniho, is a visitor to Stratford. Messrs. H. Raitt, A. Raitt, E. Eng and J. Dunn have returned from a week-end visit to Taupo. , Mrs. R. M. Kelly, Hamilton, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Etherington, The Pines. Mrs. B. Banks, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Eng, has returned to Raglan. Mrs. A. V. Lodder spent a week-end at Taumarunui. Mr. J. Ward, Tauranga, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, Tuhua. Messrs. T. Hannan, D. Mossman, E. Mossman and A. C. Bowman were visitors to Whangamomona on Saturday.
