football concert held

To raise funds for caps for members of the Taranaki primary schools soccer team that won the Webster Shield at the North Island tournament at Napier a concert was held at New Plymouth on Tuesday night. The . team was introduced to the audience. The entertainment was arranged by Nimmo's Harmonica Band, whose contributions formed the foundation of the programme. There was a varied selection of vocal solos and dance items. Mr. W. Johnston expressed thanks to all who had assisted to make the trip to Napier possible and to congratulating the team he paid tribute to the work of the manager and coach. He also thanked those responsible for the concert. The band of 24 players, under the direction of Mr. C. Ellison, played a number of selections. Other items were: Songs, Master Ernest Scott, Bobby Wilmshurst, Mr. J. Rustltog,, Mr. Sheehan, Mr. G. Scott; duet, Miss D. Holmes and Mr. J. Rustling; recitations, Miss Dulcie Burrows; duo dances, Mclntyre twins; Maori items, Poi girls.
