PROBLEM FACED SEARCH FOR SOLUTION MAKING RECEPTION HOT
Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 23. Britain's best scientific brains are concentrating on the task of beating night bombers. it is authoritatively stated. Practical application of recent imv -ovements in . defence measures i already justify the hope of fulfil- ' ment of Sir Archibald Sinclair's prophecy that Britain will solve the night bombing problem from several directions — improved anti-aircraft fire, higher balloon barrage and searchlights and speedier fighter interception. New inventions are being given a searching investigation but, contrary to rumour, no entirely new weapon has yet emerged. lt would be a mistake to concentrate on finding a solution that would be applicable only to certain conditions. The defenders aim at making reception so hot in all weathers that even indiscriminate bombing will become so profitless and dangerous that it will be strictly confined.
