OXFORD STREET ACTIVE

Rec. 5.5 p.m. London. Sept. 24. Slightly bewildered for several days after the LuftwafTc's vicious bombing and blasting. Oxford Strect, world famous among women, has partially recovercd its old ailurc. Several large stores are not able to reopen. but one has put two girls at a pavement desk in a side street to deal with inquiries. Many came to see the damage in Oxford Street and remained to shop. Women do not have to go into shops nowadays to finger materials appraisingly. When a big store in Oxford Street reopened the windows were elegantly dressed. but customers who pointed to models were surprised to find the usual glass barrier was not there.
