Mrs. Neagle, Taihape, who has been the guest of Mrs. E. G. Baylis, has returned home. Mrs. G. Rush is a visitor to Eltham and is the guest of her mother, Mrs. A. Best. Mrs. R. E. McGregor, Waverley, was a weel:-end visitor to Opunake as the guest of her mother, Mrs. J. P. Burton. Mrs. L. Des Forges wa's hostess at a farewell party for Mrs. Laing on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Des Forges wore a frock of prunella charmaine, while Mrs. Laing chose a tailored costume in navy During the afternoon, games, competitions and community singing were enjoyed. Mrs. Des Forges wished Mrs. Laing happiness in her new home, presenting her with a gift and a bouquet of spring flowers. Mrs. Laing replied. Those present included Mesdames W. A. Laing, H. Hiekman, W. Richards, R. McCullum, C. Thayer, C. Ilarding, R. Malcolm, F. Sisley, A. Mathie, R. Peat, C. Clare, A. Edgar, J. Eyars. Mrs. J. S. Hickey entertained at bridge on Wednesday evening at her home, Main Road. Mrs. Hickey wore"a frock of flame coloured taffetas, and her floral decorations consisted of a large bowl of stocks, daffodils and flowering shrubs. The highest score went to Mrs. D. Thomas. Guests included Mesdames R. Morris, Parkes, Ritchie, R. Jenkin, F. Hammond, T. N. Watt, D. Thomas, D. Mantey, P. DaLrymple, H. Shields, G. Snell and J. P. O'Sullivan. At the monthly meeting of the Opunake Plunket Society opportunity was I taken to farewell the secretary, Mrs. W. I A. Laing, who is leaving the district. Mrs. J. A. Stevenson presided. In presenting Mrs. Laing with a silver cake dish and cake trowel, Mrs. Stevenson spoke of the long associalion of Mrs. Laing with the Opunake Plunket Society. In la'!4 Mrs. Laing took ofTice as treasurer for the Opunake district, and in
1937 she became secretary and treasurer, a position she has since held. Mrs. J. D. Conaglen presented Mrs. Laing with a shoulder spray, the gift of Mrs. R. Morris. Mrs. Laing said she had enjoyed her: work for the society. Those present
included Mesdames Laing, Stevenson, J. S. Hickey, E. Hickey, Conaglen, A. Campbell, S. Boyd, M. Richards, E. Poole. W. Conaglen, B. Crofsky, M. Brophy, H. Shieldg, P. Riley and Miss P. Richards.
