Miss M. Coventry, Christchurch, is ■ visiting New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. W. I. Shrimpton. lt.rs. I. L. Prime will return to-day to her home at Napier after spending several weeks' holiday at New Plymouth with her mother, Mrs. T. C. List. Mrs. G. G. Grover will return to-day j •after spending a holiday at Auckland I with her daughtcr-in-law, Mrs. P. G. j Grovcr. Mrs. C. J. - Smith has left for a visit 1 to Auckland. ' j Mrs. Easton Smith has i-eturned from j a visit to her sister, Mrs. M. Wink, Wanganui. Miss R. Pollock, Palmerston North, spent the week-end at New Plymouth. Mrs. B. H. Ch'apman is visiting Auckland. Mrs. J. A. Farquhar has left for a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Cleaver is spending a holiday at Waverley, where she is staying with her daughter, Mrs. F. McKenna. Miss Verna Jones has left for Wellington on holiday. Misses P. Austin and L. Trass were joint hostesses at a lcitchen evening in honour of Miss Margaret Walker, whose marriage will take place early next month. Miss Walker was asked to accept numerous kitchen gifts. Benedicts's Club Dance. The final of a series of winter dances organised by members of the New Plymouth Benedicts' Club was held at Community House on Saturday night, when there v:as a good attendance. The gym- , nasium, where dancing took place, was effectively decorated with trellis rnurals and silk bunting in a scarlet, green and gold colour scheme. Chinese lanterns flanked hy many-coloured streamers were suspended from the rafters and phed a soft light over the dancing throng. In the Alexander hall, where supper was served, were bowls of Iceland poppies, hydrangeas and peach blossom. During supper the retiring president of the club, Mrs. E. P. Croll, welcomed the new president, Mrs. P. C. Davie, and presented | her with a cheque representing the profits from the series of dances. This cheque will be given to the general funds of the New Plymouth Y.W.-Y.M.C.A. Mrs. Croll wore a frock of striped taffe- 1 tas in shades of lavender, black and sil- j ver and her corsage spray was in petunia tonings.
