STRATHMORE TENNIS

Ihe Strathmore Tennis Club held its annual meeting in the Huiakama school on Saturday, there being a very poor attendance. Mr. E. Reed presided over the meeting. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £12 15s on the year's working. The opening day is to be on October 6 and a working bee is to be held on September 29 to prepare the courts. Miss Y. Coulton, retiring secretary. was congratulated on the manner in which she had carried out her duties. Officers elected were: Patron, Mr. H. Mayo: president, Mr. A. Bruce; vicepresident, Mrs. W. Elder; secretary, Mr. C. H. Frank; general committee, Mesdames Meredith and Reed. Misses Y. Coulton and S. Coulton and Messrs. J. Coulton, Simmons. D. Mayo, R. Coulton, B. McCracken and E. Reed; club captain, Mr. B. McCracken; delegates to central committee. Messrs. A. Bruce and A. H. Frank and Mrs. Elder. Mr. D. Yandle visited Marton recently. Mr. and Mrs. L. Kemp visited Marton recently. Mr. and Mrs. C. Bruce have been visiting New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. T. Ryan visited Makahu during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. P. Mayo, Makahu, have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. B. Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. D. Kelly are at present j the guests of Mi"S. E. O'Neill, Te Wera.
