CROWDS AT MAYFAIR.

"DAD RUDD, M.P." Three A's to Cinesound for producing "Dad Rudd, M.P.," which looks likely to record outstanding totals at the box office during its six-day season at the Mayfair Theatre, New Plymouth. This is Cinesound's latest feature film— their first of the eighteen was "On Our Selection," featured the same cast and was produced and directed by the same Ken Hall. "Dad Rudd, M.P.," is a fitting climax to their career of production; it is likely to be remembered by audiences eve'rywhere. As the title indicates, the story is concerned with the adventures of the Rudd family and Dad's efforts in the polilical field. The story holds interest throughout and the picture contains riolous comedy sequences, among them being adventure with the Ruddville fire brigade, Dave's apparent misdemeanour in a hotel bedroom and Dad's digression on "the facts of life." The film ends with a stirring speech by Dad in Parliament. The picture ends on a patriotic note, with a fine appeal to. the nation to foiget quibbling and lend support to the men fighting overseas. Bert Bailey is excellent as Dad, and he is given strong support by such favourites as Fred MacDonald as Dave, and Alec Kellaway as an effeminate farm visitor. The romantic scenes, too, are handled exceedingly well. Box plans are at Collier's.
