GIBSON BEATEN IN FINAL GOLF PLAY AT ELTHAM J. Holden, the young New Plymouth player, carried o C the Central Taranaki amateur golf championships by defeating the holder, T. Gibson, Eltham, in the final at the Highlands links, Eltham, by 4 up and 3 to play yesterday. i In the semi-finals Holden defeated J. Jeffery and Gibson W. B. Reilly. ; The weather was fine with just enough j wind to make the conditions sufficiently , testing for the players. The course was in good order, the greens especially showing an improvement on last year. At the conclusion of • the day s play Mr. H. S. Turner, president of the Eltham Golf Club, thanked the visiting [ players for assisting to make the tournament a success. He paid a tribute to the excellent work of the secretary, Mr. Clemow. Mr. R. Cook returned thanks on behalf of the visitors. Mrs. Turner presented the prizes. Yesterday's results were: — Central Taranaki Championship. Semi-finals: T. Gibson beat W. B. Reilly 2 andT, J.
