The indoor bowling pairs championship commenced in the Queen's Hall, New Plymouth, last night. Games in Section A were played in preparation for the finals on Saturday. First round: S. Kibby (Fitzroy) 11 y. Thomas (Vogeltown) 8, Sutton (Fitzroy) 16 v. Cottam (New Plymouth) 12, Cran (Fitzroy) 12 v. Stockman (Waitara) 5, Ewens (Waitara) 20 v. Roberts (East End) 7. Second round: Sutton 15 v. Ewens 3, Thomas 12 v. Cran 4, Roberts 10 v. Kibby 8, Stockman 17 v. Cottam 5. Third round: Kibby 10 Cottam 7, Roberts 10 v. Stockman 8, Ewens 14 v. Cran 14, Sutton 15 v. Thomas 9. Final round: Cottam 14 v. Cran 6, Ewens 18 v. Thomas 12, Sutton 21 v. Roberts 18, Stockman 20 v. Kibby 9. Summary of results: Sutton 4 wina, Ewens 21, Kibby 2, Roberts 2, Stockman 2, Cran II, Cottam 1, Thomas 1. The other sections will be played tonight, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
