WELLINGTON TITLE BOUTS

Wellington, Sept. 23. Because many of last year's performers had joined the forces entries for the 1940 amateur Wellington boxing championshipe decided in the Town Hall on Saturday night were not so numerous as in past years, nor was the standard as high as usual. Not a single champion in the senior or junior division was on hand to defend his title. Nevertheless there was some talent, among the newcomers. The new senior champions are: — Paperweight, P. Oliver; bantam-weight, L. Mulholland; light-weight, B. Murphy; welter-weight, B. Fairbrother; middleweight, J. Imlach; feather-weight, D. Thwaites.
