PERSONAL
The Hon. James McLeod, M.L.C., has* returned to New Plymouth from a visit to Wellington. Mr. T. T. Murray, Toko, has been appointed an assessor for valuations in Taranaki under the Valuation of Lands Act, 1925. Lieutenant A. E. Hope, previously stationed at the New Zealand Air Force station at Ohakea, has been attached to the Air Force station at New Plymouth. Mr. L. R. Curtis, New Plymouth, has Peen gazetted second lieutenant (temporary) and posted to the 1st Battalion, Taranaki Regiment. Mr. O. H. Cross, postmaster at Urenui, has been authorised to receive statutory declarations under the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927. Messrs. A. Cleaver and J. Bottomley, mechanics at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Woodbourne, arrived at New Plymouth last night to spend a fortnight's leave' with Mr. Cleaver's parents, Brooklands Road. The death has occurred at London, sates a cable, of Mr. Arnold Anderson Trinder, senior partner of Trinder and Anderson, a director of the Australia Steam Shipping Co., the Federal Steam Navigation Co. and also a member of the London board of the New Zealand Shipping Co. Reference to the death of Mr. W. J. Reading, an old and valued member of the New Plymouth Bowling Club, was made by the president, Mr. F. Blundell. prior to the commencement of friendly games on the green of the women's club on Saturday. Mr. Blundell expressed the club's sympathy with Mr. Reading's relatives. V
