NEW PLYMOUTH

Mrs. H. D. Law has left New Plymouth for Inglewood, where her home will be in future. Mrs. L. M. Moss will leave to-day to spend a holiday at Dunedin. Mrs. L. Hedges left on Saturday for a visit to Wellington. Mrs. J. H. Leadbetter Ts visiting Stratford. where she is staying with her sister, Mrs. W. P. Mark. Mrs. L. H. Lewis has returned to New Plymouth from Hawera, where she was the guest of Mrs. R. B. Gosnell. Miss Glenyss Fountaine, Eltham, spent the week-end at New Plymouth. Miss M. Coupe, Opunake, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth. Coniing-of-Age Party. Mrs. V. Jarnes entertained' recently at the Hygienic tea-rooms in honour of the coming-of-age of her youngest daughter, Miss Elva James. There were about 70 guests and the evening was spent in dancing and competitions, Mrs. James wore a frock of wine lace with a shoulder spray of pansics and hyacinths to tone and- Miss James wore a frock of. white silk net trimmed with circles of ruched tulle and sequins over stiffened net and taffetas. Victoria League Aftcrnoon. The small tables at the Victoria League rooms were decorated with vases containing a variety of flowers including lachenalin, stocks, linaria, primroses, daffodils, roses and bluebells for the monthly "floral" tea of the league on Friday afternoon. The president, Miss J. L. McNeill, arranged the musical programme, songs being presented by Miss Leah Tozer, Miss Evelyn Cartwright and Mrs. Wolfe, who gave songs in Welsh and English. Mrs. A. Wilson played pianoforte solos and accompanied the singers. Afternoon tea was served, after , which Miss McNeill introduced Mrs. R. L. Dukes, who gave an illustrated talk on the relationship of art to everyday life. Miss McNeill moved a vote of thanks to the speaker and to the artists.
