MANGOREI NEWS
There was a good nttendance at thg fortnightly cartl party held at the Upper Mangorei hall in aid of patriotic funds. Mr. L. Roberts supervised flag five hundred. The winning table comprised Misses B. Pearce and L. Roberts and Messrs. D. Gleye and A. Johnston. Mr. J. D. Pearce was the winner of the travelling flag Miss P. West and Mr. W. Balsom provided music for dancing. An enjoyable social evening arranged by the teachers of the Upper Mangorei Sunday school was held at the hall with the object of nrousing parcnts' interest, and as a result the nttendance at Sunday school was much improved despite the inclcmcnt weather. The evening was spont in organised games and community singing was led by Mr. Stone. Mr. and Mrs. Keith were the guests of Mrs. Broomfield recently. Mrs. J. D. Pearce has becn staying with her daughter, Mrs. R. J. Smith, Carrington Road. Miss Kelson, who visited Mrs. Busing, has returned to New Plymouth. Mrs. Rae. Hawera visited her daughter. Mrs. A. Hawke. recently. Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson. New Plymouth, are staying with Mr. and Mrs. D. Broomfield.
