SERVICE CORPS MATCH
In an inter-platoon match played by the New Plymouth National Service Corps on the Ngamotu golf links at the week-end A. L. Moore's Spitzfirers team beat V. E. Kerr's Blitzwallopers by five to two. with one game all square. Details, with Blitzwallopers mentioned first. are as follow:— W. Green and V. E. Kerr lost to A. L. Moore and J. M. Blakeney 3 and 2, C. H. Strombom and T. G. Thomson beat A. E. R. Gilbert and H. Bullen 3 and 2, P. L. Phillipps and B. E. Stott lost to H. V. Scott and J. Sleeman 2 down, D. Bullock and L. Frethey lost to H. N. Wolfe and J. Goodey 6 and 5, O. E. Flyger and J. E. Carter lost to W. T. Wood and D. Lobb 2 down, C. J. E. Smith and G. A. Eddowes lost to J. Quin and L. Hoffman 1 down, W. L. Wagstaff and K. Ward beat H. Cole and J. D. Quirk 6 and 5. H. M. Purser and E. J. L. Payne all square with N. J. Goudie and C. McNeill. A four-ball bogey played in conjunction with the platoon match was won by T. G. Thomson and C. H. Strombom 5 up.
