There was little comment on the notice of disbandment of the Egmont-Opunake controlling committee, and the matter was only briefly discussed. In ensuring that the coastal district received due recognition of its efforts, the scheme had served its purpose, declared the chairman, Mr. A. J. Brennan. Owing to his occupation with classes for Opunake entrants into the Royal New Zealand Air Force, Mr. R. S. Martin tendered his resignation, which was received with regret, the committee expressing appreciation of the work he was doing. Mr. W. A. Laing also gave notice of his irnpending withdrawal owing to his departure from the district. Tribute was paid to the service he had rendered. Application for covering authority in connection with the conduct of small raffles is to be made to the Department of Intemal Affairs. The committee approved proposals in connection with a competition, and decided to make prior aplication to the county chairman for permission to organise functions in the county area.
