STRATFORD QUALIFIERS
Stratford golf club members experienced unfavourable weather for the club championship qualifying rounds and cards suffered as a consequence. Steady rain fell most of the day, but despite the uncomfortable conditions, only a few failed to complete the 36 holes. The remainder were well drenched and playing conditions were so bad that it was not an uncommon sight to see players losing their grip of their clubs. _ There were no surprises, except in the case of Len Sole, whose usual steady play was conspicuous by its absence, resulting in his failure to qualify for the senior event. The best gross card was that of Itoy Wills, whose consistency rewarded him with the Armstrong Cup, which is competed for yearly. He was closely followed by H. Hislop and J. Wilmshurst, the latter's morning round being the best of the day. Of the juniors, G. Hill led the field and also returned the best nett medal score over the 36 holes, thereby gaining the Harbro cup, which is also made available for annual competition.
