FINES FOR BOOKMAKERS

Hamilton. September 19. A police raid on the first day of the Avondale races had a sequel to-day in the Police Court, when four men faced charges of operating cornmon gaminghouses. Christopher Howe . Nicholson, aged 43, bookmaker, and Byron Bauraberg, aged 43. bookmaker, were each fined £25, William Harrop, aged 42, salesman, was fined £25, and a case against A. E. Graham, hairdresser, Frankton, was adjourned.
