UNSETTLED WEATHER

Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be fair to fine east of the main ranges and over the Auckland Peninsula and unsettled in western areas from Taranaki southwards and in the far south, with drizzle or rain at times. Temperatures will be cool in the south, otherwise moderate to mild. , Winds from between the north-west and south-west will prevail, mainly moderate to fresh but strong to gale force at times in some exposed positions south of Taranaki and Hawkes Bay. The depression located in the South Tasman yesterday has now moved to a position some distance south-east of the South Island. An anti-cyclone remains almost stationary to the north. Seas will be rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux straits and south of Cape Egmont, slight or moderate elsewhere.
