Rural Housing Loans. Questions concerning loans for rural housing have been settled by inquiries made by Mr. W; J. Polson, M.P. Taranaki Spitfire Fund. Although it is well over the £3000 mark, the Taranaki Spitfire fund has not yet reached half the £6500 required. Emergency Precautions. Stratford county and Stratford borough will co-operate in the preparation of emergency precautions, it has been agreed. Exchange of Stamps. Stamp collectors have been prohibited by the New Zealand censorship authorities from exchanging stamps with foreign countries, including Egypt. Mardi Gras to Continue, New Plymouth's Mardi Gras carnival, which is to be continued because of its attraction to visitors, will be organised for patriotic purposes this season. Normanby School Baths. A new site for Normanby's proposed school baths is to be found following refusal of permission to construct them near the town board's water bore. Taranaki Stock Markets. ' Although activities in the Taranaki livestock market have shown little alteration in the past week, it appears that peak prices have been reached. Purchasc of Radium. Up to £750 worth of radium is to be purchased by the Taranaki executive of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society for treatment of cancer in the province. Scheme for Labour. Twenty Huinga farmers yesterday asked the Stratford County Council to declare a special rating area in connection with a casual labour provision scheme for the district. The request was declined.
