DAY BOYS WIN
SCHOOL RUGBY MATCH Day Boys dcfeaterl Boarders by 22 points (four tries tJiree converted ancl a field goal) to six points (two tries) in Ihe annual match at the New Plymouth High School grounds on Thursday. The match 'which rung down the curtain on the 1940 Rugby season at school, proved a fitt,ing final to a siiccessful season as it provided Rugby of a high standard with plenty of fast open, spectacular play. The game wa.s full of interest and there was not the difference between the teams that the scores would indicate. Uhtil well into the second spell the Boarders held a 6—3 lead. Day Boys then came with a whirlwind rush to pile on the points and stage a spectacular finish to win by 16 points. They owed their victory to superior pace in the backs. For the Day Boys Roper scored three tries and Florence one. Ridland converted three tries and Hill kicked a field goal. For the Boarders Abraham scored two tries. Mr. W. Twoomey was referee.
