CHRISTIANS MOBILISED
ARMY FOR WORLD PEACE HAWERA MISSION ADDRESS The hope of world-wide and age-long peace lay upon every Christian congregation teing mobilised and trained as an army to extend the Kingdom of God,declared Canon H. Watson, Marton, when speaking at the Monday evening service of the special mission which is being conducted at St. Mary's Church. Hawera. On Sunday evening, following a day devoted to the annual cclebration of St. Mary's church patronal festival, Canon Watson stressed the greatness of the opportunity and the urgency of the present call to service. Last night he began to deal with the way in which this urgent call should be answered. The first thing clearly was prnyer, for it was only with the guidance and help of God that our efforts could be successful. "Many thinjcers are of the opinion that the only thing that can save the world is a world-wide spiritual revival," said Canon Watson. "Past expcrience has shown that revivals have always bcen the result of earnest and united prayer, so the first thing requircd of every Christian is earnest and constant prayer that God in these times will pour out His Holy Spirit without measure upon His Church, bringing us to repentance for our past indifference and self-com-placency and inspiring us with zeal and wisdom to bear such faithful witness to the Master that others may be brought into loyalty to Him. That is the only way that any kingdom can grow. The lack of progress in past years has been due to th'e slackness of Christians in this respect. Christianity is suffering from lack of personal recommendation."
