WINS AT SYDNEY
MEETING WITH AJAX DEFEAT OF HIGH CASTE (By "Hurry On.") The New Zealand four-year-old Beaulivre is the horse of the hour in Sydney at present. Since the opening of the present season he has won three weight-for-age races in succession, and on Saturday decisively disposed of High Caste in the Chelmsford Stakes, run over a nine furlongs journey. Australians are so impressed with Beaulivre ^ that his meeting with the mighty Victorian, Ajax, is being awaited with great interest. It will be remembered that last season Beaulivre started racing at the combined hunts meeting at New Plymouth and his success in the Waihau Handicap on the opening day was the start of a run of eight successive victories. This run was checked when Beau Vite lowered his colours in the Great Northern Derby at Ellerslie on New Year's Day and then repeated the dose in the Clifford Plate the next day. Beaulivre was then taken to Sydney, and after running good races at Easter raced at Brisbane during the winter. He was narrowly beaten in the Doomben Newmarket, but^ won the Doomben Cup in stylish fashion. As his name indicates Beaulivre is one of the successful Beau Pere tribe. His dam, Passbook, was by Paper Money from Password, by Martian from Secret Link. He was bred by the late Mr. W. Higgins and purchased at auction at the end of his two-year-old career for 2900 guineas by his' present owner, Mr. E. C. Harnett.
