SUPPORT FOR WILLKIE
influential newspaper Rec. 11.20 p.m. New York, Sept. 19. The traditionally democratic New York Times, which supported President Roosebelt in 1932 and 1936, in an editorial today announced that it is supporting Mr. Wendell Willkie because he is more able to carry out the defence programme and stimulate economic and industrial activity. A third term for President Roosevelt would mean the shattering of democratic tradition. The Times adds that Mr. Willkie and President Roosevelt are aware of the United States' danger and both desire to aid Britain.
