INCREASE IN ROLL
WESTOWN SCHOOL WORK
A siight increase in the roll, which was now 271 compared with 269 at the close of the second term, was recorded at the monthly meeting of the Westown School Committee. The headmaster, Mr. W. H. Jones, reported that the average roll for the second term was 270.9, the average attenilanee being 254 and the roll at the end of the second term 269. Nir.e had been admitted this term and seven withdrawn,
the present roll being 271. Mrs.. N. Priest had reported for duty as additional assistant. Miss M. Hawkes, infant mistress. had been absent on leave for four days, Mrs. Watt. having acted as relieving teacher. Mrs. E. Geddes, supernumerary. had also reported for duty, but after a day had been required for other relieving work. A collection of eggs for Plunket Day was being made. The cubmistress, Miss Elliott, reported that work in connection with the troop was procecding satisfactorily.' Mr. Cooksey, Dominion Commissioner for Training, had visited the troop last Tuesday and on Saturday Had met all the cub pncks at tlie scout section. The grounds. were in first-class order, the custodian having made a splendid job of the hedges, it was reported by the grounds supervisor, Mr. V. C. Davies.
