TO CARRY ON AS USUAL Endorsing the opinion expressed in the innual report that the continuance of ;port in war time was in the national inlerest, members of the Opunake Lawn rennis Club at the annuai meeting on Monday decided in favour of continuing :ompetitions and club matches as usual iuring the coming season. The presidjnt, Mr. H. H. Hughson, referred to the sncouragement given to the "work-to-ivin" attitude, and said that a "play-to-svin" outlook, with the object of improving physical fitness was just as important. Reviewing the past season, Mr. Hughson stated that despite a slightly reciucsd membership a successful year had been experieneed. Club teams entered in A and B grades of the competition series were runners-up in their respective divisions, and the full range of club ;hampionships was conducted, winners being: Women's A grade, Miss E. MacLean, whose efforts had effected a considerable improvement in finances, was paid by Mr. Penney, who moved the adoption of the report. The club had followed a sound policy in continuing the New Year tournament, which provided members of coastal and other small clubs with an opportunity to enter open competition.
