TEACHERS' MOVEMENTS Teachers- appointments approved by the Taranaki' Education Board yesterday on the= recbmmendation of the selgction committee, subject to school committees' approval, were: Matapu, .head master, Mr. F. P. Frean; Eltham, " assistant, Mr. K. C. ' Marriott; Ngaere. • aSsistant, Miss Edith Niederer; Mimi, assistant, Miss Margaret R. Oxley; Te Kiri, assistant, Miss Kathleen Chaney. Other recommendations adopted were that Miss P. Power be transferred to Waiau and that Mr. B. Mason be transferred .to Otaraoa: that Mrs. J. Latham be released from her position at the- infant school, Eltham, as soon as a suitable relieving teacher can be procured; that the board regrets it is unable to -grant Miss M. Clark, Midhirst, and Miss Z. Mollgaard, Stratford, permission to "apply for positions before the end of the year. Mr. - 1. V: Buchanan will be informed that there is no vacancy to which he can be transferred, and that .the board suggests that in the circumstances hs should apply for any suitable position advertised in other districts. Resignations were accepted as follows: Mr. W. S, Bowie, head teacher, Omata; Mr. W. A. T. Underwood, head teacher, Matapu; Miss E. Dunne, assistant, Oaonui; Miss J. Cushing, assistant, Te Kiri; Miss R. M. Veale, assistant, Hillsborough. The chairman reported that the' following relieving appointments had been made: Miss ,T Burns, assistant, Stanley; Miss-M. Savell, assistant, Ngaere; Mr. J. Saunders, assistant, Rahotu; Miss H. Davis. assistant, Mimi; Miss K. Chaney, assistant, Te Kiri; Mr. C. Wilson, head teacher, Nihoniho: Miss M. Lunam, head teacher. Matapu; Mr. D. G. Lewis, assistant, Matapu; Mr. H. A. Smith, assistant, Central; Miss M. Hall, assistant, Eltham; Miss -E. Giddy, head teacher, Omata: Mr, P. O'Carroll. assistant. Omata; Mr. A. D. Brooker, additional assistant. Opunake: Mrs. M. Watts, assistant, Westown and Oaonui; Mr. J. O'Sullivan, assistant. Fitzroy; Mr. L. Pearson. assistant, Fitzroy; Mrs. E. Geddes. head teacher. Turuturu and- Bird, assistant, Ngaere; Mr. R. RGoodwin, assistant. Urenui; Mr. I. P. Gunn, assistant. Opunake: Miss B. M. Bertram, assistant. Opunake secondary. Leave of absence had been granted as follows: Mr. R. L. McNabb. head teacher, Toko; Miss M. Hawkes. Westown; Mr. H. V. George, assistant. Fitzroy: Mr. A. W. Hodder, assistant. Fitzroy; Mr. H. R. W. Higgins, assistant, Onunake: Mr. G. J. Hall. head teacher. Waitoriki; Mr. M. J. Morrison, sole teacher. Wharearerio: Mr. M. Tocker, probationary assistant. Normanby. The Director of Education notified that; general applications from soldier teachers for appointment to vacancies were not to be considered until the teacher had entered camp or had otherwise commenced in the employ of the Army, Navy or Air Department.
