Blancotti was fined £5 (costs 10s). ( Blancotti was registered as an alien at , New Plymputh on September 9, 1933, said Detective T. W. Allsopp. Aliens , were issued with a certificate of registration, the contents of which were ex- j plained to all aliens. They were told . that it was very important that notice ot ; change of abode should be given the nearest police station in wnting within seven days of the change being made. On May 20, 1940, Blancotti left New Plymouth and went to Dannevirke, continued Detective Allsopp. He should have notified the police of his movements, but he failed to do so. Twentyfive days later he reported, and during a police interview he was cautioned. un july 30. 1940, Blancotti notified the Dannevirke police that he was going back to New Plymouth and that he mtended to stop at Hawera rn route. which he did. He saw Constable r . i) ■ Healy on July 31 and said he was staying the night at Hawera and that he .was going on to New Plymouth, vvhere he intended to work. He was told to report to the New Plymouth police. Thirteen days later Constable Healy saw Blancotti in the street, continued Detective Allsopp. He was sent foron August 14, and he told the police that he had secured employment at Hawera. "Blancotti does seem to be floutmg the law." said Detective Allsopp. He was cautioned previously, and for that reason he has been prosecuted. These people cause a lot of trouble by not reP°r^P^" He had no excuse to offer, said Hiancotti, who added that he was an unmarried restaurant assistant.
