GREAT BUTTERFAT SIRES. SELECT HAWERA OFFERING.

For about 37 years Ngahiwi has been breeding Jerseys, firstly grades, then pedigrees. During that long period some wonderful butterfat sires have been used, the first being a son of Mr. A. Watkins' famous old cow Cherry, 261b butter a week, hand skimming, The next herd sire was Swastika Conqueror from the same family as Mere, 12,0001b milk 6661b fat, for some years world's champion two-year-old. Ngahiwi then purchased daughters and grand-daughters of Soumise Tom C.B.B., sire of Lady Superior S961b fat second class. One of those heifers was carrying a bull calf by Grannie's Knight C.B.B., sire of Holly Oak Annie, 10561b fat. That bull calf, which was named Ngahiwi Silent Knight C.B.B.. was sire of Ngahiwi Grand Queen, 8261b fat. Then came Ngahiwi Gold Jacket C.B.B., sire of Ngahiwi Lady Romance, 8341b fat, special gold, silver and bronze medallist. Grand Master, by Stevenson, the grandsire of Woodlands Felicie, 12201b fat, still world's champion, was also bought. Brampton Dreaming Sam Blood. Always on the look-out for a change of blood from the highest butterfat producers, Ngahiwi purchased one of the best sons of the now famous Brampton Dreaming Sam C.B.B. imp.- This sire has been a wonderful success. This season alone cows by this bull have so far put up great performances. One under C.O.R. did 751b fat for her first full month, being the top cow for New Zealand on the merit list for June. Others in the group have done 851b, 821b, 681b and 661b fat. Then look at the great record of the Ngahiwi cow owned by Mr. R. Verry. Waitotara, 951b fat for September under group test.
