£2550 FOR SPITFIRE

TARANAKI FUND GROWS Taranaki's contribution to the Spitfire Fund had reached £2550 8s 3d by noon yesterday. District totals were: — New Plymouth £1712 7s lld, Hawera £482 8s, Waitara £224 13s 10d, Eltham £51 11s, Stratford £50 8s 6d, Inglewood £18 19s, Opunake £10. Recent contributions to district funds are as follows:—

The Pukekura Park Tennis Club has decided to give £2 2s to the Taranaki Spitfire Fund. Proceeds from a dance at Whangamomona raised the Spitfire fund of the Whangamomona-Kohuratahi branch of the Women's Division to £21. At a meeting of the Kaponga patriotic controlling committee last week it was pointed out that Kaponga residents wishing to make donations to the Taranaki Spitfire fund should do so promptly because the lists are to close on September 30. Money could be handed in to the town board office, the Dominion Hotel, the Bank of New Zealand, the Bank of New South Wales and the business premises of Messrs. W. G. Cran and L. Rountree. It was decided not to make a canvass as it was felt that those who wished to help the fund would do so voluntarily.
