CRICKET AT WAITARA

CLUB'S ANNUAL REPORT

The annual report, to be presented to members at the annual meeting of the Waitara cricket club states that last sea6on, the first since the junior club had taken over the control of the club, had j been a very successful one. The junior team entered in the competitions after contending with adverse weather and transport difficulties and finished run-ners-up to Western Park. In a knockout competitjon held later Western Park was defeated in the ftnal. Two members of the team, C. Smart and H. Easton, were included in the Town team which met the Country representative team in the annual fixturc at Hillsborough. During the year socials were held and the proceeds together with money raised by competitions, helped the funds considerably. Funds on hand were £11 7s 4d and had it not been for heavy travelling expenses incurred and the replacement of damaged gear the balance would have been considerably iarger. A club member, F. Chapman, had joined the fighting forces. Thanks are expressed to those who had given generously to the ( funds. and all others who have helped ( the club in any way, especially Mr. W. ! W. Easton, who placed at the disposal of the club his residence for the purpose of holding meetings.
