BRITISH TACTICS

WILL DEFEND EGYPT

Rec. 11 p.m. Cairo. Sept. 18. "We are not defending the long desert line from Sollum, but we will certainly defend Egypt proper, that is, the Delta and the Nile valley," said an official British spokesman at Cairo to-day. "Between these extremes lies our course of action, which is directed not to the occupation or retention of this area, but the destruction of the enemy's forces. Territorial readjustments will follow naturally when this is achieved, as it will be."
