COTTAGE AT PUNGAREHU
"The recent establishment of a cottage for the training of Maori girls in domestic arts is an epoch-making Cvent on which all concerned are to be congratulated. . The contribution to its success made by the four women of the district who act as honorary instructresses, merits the highest commendation. The girls themselves are already proud of their achievements in these vitally important homely arts." The above paragraph appeared in the rCport by the senior inspector of schools, Mr. R. R. Hunter, concerning his visit to the Pungarehu school, read at the meeting of the Taranaki Education Board yesterday. The members of the board were so impressed with the excellence of the work that is being carried out at Pungarehu that it was unanimously decided to relax the rule which provides that no publicity shall be given to inspectors' reports and to hand that paragraph to the Press representatives present. It was stated that the four women responsible were Mesdames W. J. Wright, H. Campbell, J. Brophy and R. P. Fleming.
