TRADES INDOOR BOWLING
The third section of the Trades indoor bowling tournament was played in the Queen's Hall, New Plymouth, last night, and resulted in a win for Hawkins rink with 24 wins. Results were:— First round: Hellier (Farmers) 9 beat Summerell (Bakers) 7; Richards (Butchers) 17 beat Blundell (Farmers) 6; Okey (Showmen) 7 beat Smart (Plumbers) 6; Hawkins (Drivers) 11 beat Lowe (Foundry) 6. Second round: Lowe 11 beat Okey 8; Hawkins 6 drew with Smart 6; Blundell 12 beat. Hellier 7; Summerell 14 beat Richards 3. Third round: Smart 11 beat Lowe 10; Hawkins 15 beat Blundell 8; Summeiell 9 beat Okey 5; Richards 7 beat Hellier 6. Post-section winners who have qualified for the finals to be played at 6.45 p.m. on Saturday" evening are now Ewens (Fishermen), Waitara; Spurdle (Mercers), Inglewood; and Hawkins v Drivers), New Plymouth. There are two more rounds yet to be played tonight and to-morrow and the pairs tournament will commence next Monday.
