first made yesterday FOURTH REINFORCEMENT The first payment to members of the fourth reinforcements who had relinquished their civil occupations in :.nticipation of entering camp was made yesterday. The men for Burnham and Papakura were paid as from September 11 and those for Trentham as from September 12. A fairly large number paraded for the pay and in addition to the usual pay they received a subsistence allowance of 2s 6d per day. The next pay day will be on October 1. The following official statement sets out the position:— "Pay for members of the fourth reinforcements who have been thrown out of work as a result of the suspension of mobilisation will be available from today onwards. A subsistence allowance of 2s 6d a day will be paid in addition to ordinary pay. To facilitate the arrangements that have been made, men claiming pay have been advised to report to the drill hall as early as possible to present their move orders and certificates from their employers for inspection. Claimants must produce a certificate from employers to say that work is not available for them. "Each man will receive 7s a day, plus the subsistence allowance of 2s 6d a day. The warrants can be cashed at any post office immediately. The men who were ordered to proceed to Trentham will receive pay as from September 12 and those for Burnham and Papakura from September 11. Pay will be up to September 17 and thereafter will be paid fortnightly. The next pay day provided the men have not left for camp will be October 1. Men of the fourth reinforcements at Stratford and Hawera sub-areas must make application as set out above to their respective sub-area headquarters. These r "■plications will be forwarded to area headquarters at New Plymouth and warrants posted direct to the men concerned." Additional postings for the fourth reinforcements from the New Plymouth Army Office are: Infantry training unit, Trentham. F. D. Bungay, New Plymouth; drivers and orderlies, Trentham, G. Wallis, Hawera.
