Lower Mangorei: In the absence of Mrs. Balsom, Mrs. Krutz presided over the monthly meeting. One new member was welcomed. A written competition was won by Mrs. Winstanley and the best bloom resulted: Mrs. Shute 1, Mrs. Morecroft' 2, Mrs. Winstanley 3. Mrs. Blyde won a wandering shilling. Members brought garments for refugees and a cushion cover given by Mrs. Kendrick was won by Mrs. Smith. It was decided that members give a subscription to the Spitfire fund. A one-act play was read. Hostesses were Mesdames Fowler, Morecroft and Purcell. Kaimata: Mrs. Gffibons presided over a small meeting. It was decided to give 7s 6d to a potato fund, £1 to a Spitfire fund, and 7s 6d for: the Makogai leper fund. Six parcels for soldiers weire packed and clothes for refugees were distributed among members for mending. A bring-and-buy stall realised 2s ld. Competitions were: Tea towel, Mrs. Bocock 1, Mrs. L. Dobson 2; best bloom, Mrs. Gibbons 1, Mrs. H. Burwell 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Bocock and Bracegirdle
