NEW PLYMOUTH
Mrs. E. Scott, St. Helier's, Auckland, arrived last night at New Plymouth and is the guest of Mrs. W. T. Guild. Mrs. L. H. Johnson left on Monday to spend a few days at Wellington. Mrs. Agmen Smith returned to Papakura yesterday after visiting New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. G. Martin. Mrs. Kelsey will return to Auckland to-day after spending a holiday at New Plymouth with her daughter, Mrs. R. Boucher. Mrs. M. Sutherland is visiting Inglewood, where she is staying with Mrs. i L. Sutherland. Mrs. Alan Little returned to Henderson yesterday after visiting New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. J. M. Warnock. Mrs. F. Willis returned to Wellington yesterday after spending a few days at New Plymouth. Advice has been received that Miss Joan Deare, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Deare, Westown, New Plymouth, is on her way to New Zealand from England. Mesdames A. W. Holder and W. H. Huggett were hostesses at a card evening recently to raise funds for the Caledonian ladies and friends' patriotic guild. Tukapa Coniforts Club. The -■ Tukapa Soldiers' Comforts Club have been workirig steadily for some time. Many pounds of wool have been knitted into garments for soldiers overseas and parcels have already been dispatched to Egypt and England. Members are now busily engaged preparmg Christmas parcels. The thanks of the committee are due to their many friends for gifts and donations. At the last meeting a carbonette competition was won by Mrs. D. Welch.
