Pola Negri's Damages Case.
Because a Paris weekly once reported that she had been angling for £ job as a Nazi propagandist, sullen-eyed Polish-born Pola Negri— her real name i: Appollonia Chalupec, she is 40 years oi age — stormed into an American cour dressed all in salmon pink and demanded 1,000,000 francs damages. The cour awarded her 10,000 francs. The paper was Pour Vous and thf article appeared before the German occupation and before the Germans tool oover Paris newspapers. It cannot be discovered whether or not the German: have settled Pola's claim.
