AMBITIOUS MUSICAL SCORE

One of the most ambitious musical scores ever written for a British ' film will be heard in the screen version of "Band Waggon," the G.B.D. film which stars Arthur Askey, Jack Hylton and Richard Murdoch. Since "Band Waggon" is probably the most popular radio feature ever broadcast by the London B.B.C., Maurice Ostrer in charge of production and Edward Black, the producer, decided that nothing should be spared to guarantee a string of hit-tunes for the film. They recruited the services of Britain's most prolific composer, Noel Gay, and Gay turned out a tune for the film which should certainly prove one of his biggest successes. It is called "The Melody Mal^er" and was written specially for Jack Hylton, who will conduct his band in the number and also sing it as a duet with Patricia Kirkwood. Harry Parr Davies, Gracie Fields' i^ersonal accompanist, in collaboration With Roma Campbell Hunter, has composed a haunting melody which Jack Hylton himself declares will become an immediate hit with the public. This is entitled "Heaven Will Be Heavenly," and will be sung by members of Jack Hylton's band and a female voice choir.
