Repetition of Reality
Sigrid Gurie's Next Film During her most trying and dramatic scenes in her recent picture "Three Faces West," which will be released throughout New Zealand by British Empire Films, Sigrid Gurie received the news that Oslo, Norway, where her father, mother, and two brothers live, was invaded by the Nazi army. By a coincidence Sigrid Gurie plays the part of a Nazi refugee in "Three Faces West'" who with her father, an eminent Viennese surgeon of pre-Nazi days, arrives in America, finds a home in the dusj bowl region, and helps to minister to the sick and the dying, of whom the dust, filth and poverty have taken their toll. The Viennese doctor, Dr. Braun, is played by Charles Coburn, and John Wayne, as young John Phillips, leader of the band of dust bowl farmers who leave their ravaged land for the more promising land of northern Oregon, has the supporting romantic lead. Other players featured in the picture are Spencer Charters, Sonny Bupp, Helen MacKellar, Trevor Bardette, Wolfgang Zilzer, and Wade Boteler.
