ABSURD GERMAN CHARGE
Rec. 6.30 p.m. Rugby, bept. 14 The German news services yesterdaj broadcast in all languages the absurc allegation that'' the Royal Air Force had been dropping i over- Germany and occupied territories containers carrying the Colorado beetle or potato beetle. There is no truth in this ridiculous story. The opinion is expressed here thal Germany is spreading the rumour to explain the prevalence of disease which caused havoc in the Reich this summer All through the season Germany home broadcasts have been issuing detailed instructions as to how to fight this pesl and how to obtain the collaboration oi a special official detection service established to cope with it. The last such broadcast on July 23 described the beetle and detailed the areas in which it was prevalent. It was stated "It was originally introduced to Europt from America and was widespread ir Belgium and France. It has now come I to Germany."
