LORD MAYOR'S APPEAL

Rugby, Sept. 12. To alleviate distress caused by indil> criminate bombing of London the Lorfl Mayor is appealing for help and has opened a Mansion House fund to which the King has sent £1000, the Queen £500, Queen Mary £300, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester £250 and the Duke and Duchess of Kent £200. Other large gifta have been promised, including a substantial donation from tHe American j Ambassador from funds under his conI trol, and from the London County Council.
