SANDY POWELL IN "ALL AT SEA."
NEW FLYMOUTH STATE THEATRE. The rotund Yorkshire comedian, Sandy Fowell, gives his best performance to date in the hilarious side-splitting comedy "All at Sea," which opened its session at the State Theatre, New Plymofuth, last night. Sandy is excellently supported by Kay Walsh, John Warwick, Gus. McNaughton and Leslie Perrins. The fleet ahd its doings. form an interesting background to the antics of Sandy and the other stars in the picture. Thinking ihe is offering to take the part of a sailorin an advertisement for a picture theatre, Sandy finds that he has really enlisted in the Royal Navy. Through an" accident Sandy finds himself a selfappointed saviour of the pretty daughter of an inventor on the track of two mcn who are trying to sell a formula for an explosive belonging to Miss Walsh 's father, . to a Continental agent. The amnsing incidents and .the thrilling experiences through -which he •• has to go to -find the crooks, make the picture a huge laugh from beginning to end. "All at Sea" also gives Sandy an opportunity to introduce a pppular new song, "Oh Ain't it Grand to be the Navy." An inte^esting feature ; of the first half is the Gaumont.Newsreel entitled "The Air War- on . Britain." ; This featurette is a film taken on . the first few days of the
aerial blitzkrieg on Great Britain. It shows whole rows of English houses de--stroyed by German bombers. It also shows the German planes which have been shot down by British fighters and anti-aircraft batteries. Other supports include a Fox Newsreel and a Terry Toon cartoon.
