SPARKLING POTPOURRI.
"ROAD TO SINGAPORE" TO-DAY. A sparkling potpourri of popular new 1 melodies from Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour and Boh Hope, is a feature of "Road to Singapore," which will be shown at the Opera House, Hawera, today at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Once again Paramount has called upon that ace writing team, Johnny Burke and James V. Monaco, to write a goodly portion of the tunes. Their work for this picture includes "Too Romantic," a number which has already been aired many times, "Sweet Potato Pipcr," a swingy novelty tune, and "Kaigoon," the number to which LeRoy Prinz's dancing girls perform. The other two numbers heard in the picture are the work of lyricist Johnny Burke and Victor Schertzinger, versatile director of the picture. They are "Captain Custard" and "The Moon and the Willow Tree." ' "Road to Singapore" finds Bing and Bob singing their merry way io the South Seas to get away from the girls. However, they run smack into Dorothy Lamour and fall in love with her.
