PERSONAL

Mr. W. S. Amon, assistant engineer, was granted three months' leave of absence by the Opunake Electric Power Board yesterday to enable him to undergo military training with the territorial forces. Mr. W. Lacey. who has commenced training at the Hobsonville air base, was farewell ed by his friends on Tuesday evening at the residence of Mrs. Cummings, Patea. Games and vocal and instrumental items were enjoyed. and later in the evening Mr. Wainscott proposed the toast of the guest of the evening, and on behalf of those present presented Mr. Lacey with a set of Loewe pipes and tobacco pouch suitably inscribed. Several others spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr. Lacey. Mr. W. Smith proposed the toast to the hostess. and later Auld Lang Syne concluded the evening.
