MINING DISPUTE
INTERVENTION BY STATE ■ Auckland, Last Night. I Intervention, at the instance of the ; Govermnent, of Mr. C. L. Hunter, Labour Department liaison officer in the i dispute at the Macdonald and Glen Afton collieries which has resulted in nearly ! 400 men stopping work was the only new development to-day. No work was done at either mine. Soyn after his arrival from Wellington this moming Mr. Hunter conferred with Mr. T. Hall, secretary to the Northern i Miners' Union. He also met the manj agement of the collieries. J In the afternoon Mr- Hunter met the cxecutive of the local union and their deliberations extended over 31 hours. In a statement to-night Mr. Hall said that as a result of the conference a special meeting of members of the Macdonald and Glen Afton branches of the union would be held to-morrow morning, when the men would be addressed by Mr. Hunter.
